After a wonderful wedding, we had a wonderful honeymoon. Even though I am the crazy mountain guy, this was actually Allison's idea. She has fond memories from childhood at Skoki, so we both agreed that this would be a great place to have a honeymoon. We took the ski lift up the Lake Louise Ski Resort and then skiied down the other side to save us some boring skiing up the access road. The ski in was cloudy but still very pretty. Allison had a great tyime on the way in and the ski down from Deception Pass was very enjoyable.
While at Skoki Lodge we got to stay in the Honeymoon Cabin. Unfortunately the heat cut out both nights we were there and the cabin was below 0 celcius. Fortunately we had very warm down blankets in that cabin. I had to sleep with my parka though the second night. The food at Skoki was delicious. Definitely 5 stars. Not the kind of thing I am used to in the backcountry. I wish I could eat that well all the time. The staff were very kind and we enjoyed the company of the other guests at the lodge.
On the second day Allison was tired so I did a short ski tour with some of the other guests around Skoki Mountain before returning to the cabin for some excellent food. The skies cleared up and we had superb views on that day as well as our day out. On our way out we had some fun slow turns on Deception Pass. The snow was very thick but not crusty which made the skiing slow on Deception Pass. Skiing back was a blast. We were a little slow but still managed to catch the final lift out at the Lake Louise Ski Resort. I couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon. It was awesome.
